Our 135 acres of gently rolling hills are located in northeastern Missouri,
about 35 miles northeast of Kirksville, MO. We are in Scotland County with
a population of 5,000 people. The area is largely cattle, soybeans, and
corn. We live in a rural, sparsely populated part of the state and
experience typical Midwest weather with four very distinct seasons.
Both Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage and Red Earth Farms Land Trust are within an easy three-mile bike ride. The town of Rutledge, two
miles from Sandhill, has a general store, post office, and auto
mechanic shops. Memphis, the County Seat has a population of 2000 and has
a hospital, schools, banks, various stores, movie theatre, recycling centers and motels. There is a summer
community theatre in Memphis. The university town of Kirksville is 45
minutes away, Quincy, IL is 1.5 hours away and the city of Columbia,
MO where the University of Missouri is located is 2.5 hours away.
These areas satisfy our local off- the-farm shopping and selective
entertainment needs.
