Sandhill Farm by cedar

It's really Spring, isn't it? Cory, our youngest resident, recently learned to ride her bicycle without training wheels. I think she spends about half her waking hours riding up and down Sandhill Road, Chaney Lane, and Underpass. Look for her if you're ever passing thru our way on her salvged pink and white bikecomplete with banana seat. Gigi, Cory's mom found the old bike in our bicycle retirement area and spiffed it up.

Josefa was here this past week. She was on Spring Break from her boarding school in North Carolina. She will be graduating from the school (junior high level) this year. While here, she made tasty sweets and inspired 2 sessions of late night game playing.

Are we gardening yet? You betcha. Got the first round of peas in the ground Sunday. Bekka and Michael have over 400 brassica family vegetables, including broccoli, cauliflower, kale, kohlrabi, collards, and cabbage, started in flats. They, along with various other veggie starts are taking up much of our south facing window space in our big residence building. The tomatoes are coming up as I type.

Stan, Chad and I went to Roy and Dora Monroe's to learn about grafting fruit trees with the Master Gardener class. We had fun learning the techniques and talking with the Monroes. Now just where are we going to put all these apple and peach trees?

Sol and I tagged along with a handful of dancing rabbits last Saturday to the auction at the old nursing home in Memphis. We weren't fortunate enough to win a dresser, but we did get an industrial size mop bucket, complete with wringer, mop and replacement mop heads. Just what we were looking for!

A few Wednesdays ago Gigi organized a trip to the RollerRena in Kahoka. Dancing rabbits came too and we rollered in celebration of Gigi and Chad's birthdays (but don't tell Chad because it didn't want a big deal made for his birthday). Thanks to the wonderful folks with CARE at the RollerRena.
